Quick update on how things are going

I started having contractions or Braxton hicks (not sure at this point) yesterday at 1:30pm and they were anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes apart. I finally called the doctor at 4:00 to see what was happening and what my next step should be. They told me to go home and rest. If the contractions or Braxton hicks got stronger, were 5 min apart and lasted for 40 min to call them back and speak with the doctor to see what she wanted us to do next. With Braxton hicks if you lay down, after awhile they will go away. So I went home and went to bed.

The contractions or Braxton hicks were not going away and were continuing to get stronger and stronger. Jamie got out his handy dandy labor watch and started timing them around 8:00. From 8 until 9:30 they were getting stronger and were anywhere from 2 to 10 min apart, so we call the doctor just to see what we needed to do next. I hated to call the doctor and disturb her, but at this point we really didn’t know what to expect since neither one of us has been through this. She decided that since I didn’t have a pelvic on Tuesday to send me to the hospital so I could have one. Once she knew the results from that, she would decide what to do next.

So there we were in the dark (our power went out around 8:30) trying to grab last minute things to head to the hospital and put Cooper in his room not knowing if we were about to become parents for the first time. As Jamie helped me into car he had the biggest grin on his face…he was so cute.

Once we got to the hospital they hooked me up to the machines and I thought Jamie was going to cry when he heard BG’s heart beat. She was just beating away and when contractions or Braxton Hicks would start we could here her heart beat get faster and faster. I was asked a ton of question and had to sign a bunch of forms while trying to continue my breathing when another contraction or Braxton hick woulds come along.

Once we got everything set up it was time to do the pelvic. At this point I really didn’t care, but it was a bit uncomfortable. She shoved her hands as far as she could to check my cervix and there was nothing. Not even the tiniest opening. She said that she was going to call the Dr and let her know. Once she left another woman came in and wanted to check as well just to make sure the first nurse's findings were correct. Well she shoved her “man hands” up there so far that I thought I was going to cry. It hurt so badly. She said basically the same thing.

We are getting closer, but she is not ready yet.

Yeah. I can't wait to meet her. I was hoping to keep reading and find out you were in labor.
